The platform

The Lupiiya Platform: Equity Crowdfunding and Fintech Tools Built for Uganda

One place for young Ugandan entrepreneurs to organise their business, raise capital from local investors and grow, and for everyday Ugandans to invest in the companies around them from as little as UGX 50,000.

How it works

How Lupiiya works, step by step

Equity crowdfunding means many people each buy a small share of a business. Together, those small amounts add up to the capital the business needs to grow.

  1. Register and get verified

Entrepreneurs and investors sign up on Lupiiya Hub and are verified and recorded in our nationwide database before they can take part.

  2. Get investment-ready

Founders use our book-keeping and compliance tools to organise their records and build a clear profile of their business.

  3. Launch a raise

The business offers a share of its equity to the community. Investors compare opportunities using simple, report-card style summaries.

  4. Grow and report

Once funded, the business puts the capital to work and keeps investors updated, while we monitor how the money is used.

  5. Trade on Lupiiya Index

When investors want to move on, the planned Lupiiya Index secondary market gives them a way to sell their shares.

For entrepreneurs

Lupiiya for young entrepreneurs

Built for Ugandans aged 18 to 35 who are running a business, or who have a promising idea that is ready for funding.

Raise from your community

Turn your network of friends, family, customers and supporters into shareholders, instead of relying only on loans that need collateral.

Book-keeping made simple

Record sales, expenses and cash flow without accounting training, so you always know how your business is really doing.

Ugandan compliance

Tools built around local requirements, from business registration to keeping the tax records you need, so you can grow without surprises.

Legitimise your side hustle

Add structure and capital to the business you run on the side, and give it the chance to become your main job and an employer of your peers.

For investors

Lupiiya for local investors

Investing in Ugandan startups should not be reserved for the wealthy. On Lupiiya, anyone can take part.

Start from UGX 50,000

Back a local business with a small amount and build a portfolio over time, at a pace that suits your budget.

Easy comparisons

Choosing between businesses is as easy as looking at two report cards and deciding which student did better.

We stay in your corner

We monitor funded businesses to check that the capital raised is being used effectively for the purpose it was raised for.

A built-in exit

Lupiiya Index is designed as a secondary equity market where investors can sell their shares to other members.

Platform components

Lupiiya Hub and Lupiiya Index

Lupiiya Hub

The Hub is where the community meets. Entrepreneurs present their businesses, investors discover opportunities across hundreds of industries, and everyone can learn from people on the same journey. Every member is verified before they can fundraise or invest.

Lupiiya Index

Startup shares can be hard to sell. Lupiiya Index is our planned secondary market, giving investors a way to sell their stake to other members instead of waiting years for a business to be sold.

Designed for mobile

Most Ugandans get online through their phones, so we are designing Lupiiya to work smoothly on the devices people already use, in clear and simple language.

Good to know before you invest

Investing in early-stage businesses carries risk. Startups can fail, returns are never guaranteed, and it may take time to sell your shares. Only invest money you can afford to set aside for the long term, and spread it across several businesses rather than putting everything into one.
